Tamilla H | What do you think about NSF fees charged by banks ? IS it ethical ? |
I believe that all consumer protection groups should stand together and protect Americans from this pervert banking practices . Additional Details IF I have no money on account why just not let me to withdraw anything ? It's like a trap . |

You fell in the trap---I have a debit card and thought if the funds were gone they would not take the card---not even, I learned fast, I paid 56 dollars for two debits that did not equal 9 dollars. Live and learn. |

because you still have check's ,does not mean you have the fund's to cover .
quit writing check's ,if you don't have the money ,its illegal.
jail time even .
and very costly ,covering all those fee's from the bank ,and the people you wrote the check. |

If everyone could bounce checks and get no fees, that would be the end of banks. What is your problem? |

How about you don't spend money that you don't have. Then you don't have to worry about the bank charging you money. What a novel idea that is... |

Its your account...don't you know how much money you have in it? |

it seems ethical to me. when you open an account you sign papers. always be sure to read what you sign BEFORE signing the dotted line. this can sometimes be a hard lesson learned. MOST banks will charge you a fee if you ummm for lack of a better word...BOUNCe something....not only is it ethical...if you continue to spend money you dont have in the bank...you could be discussing this matter to a judge rather than here on yahoo |

Tamilla,
The sarcasm of some of the other posters aside, as a presumably mature adult it is your responsibility to know how much money you have in your account and not overdraw it. Your bank doesn't know when you write a check, so when it arrives in the bank's system, which can take a few days, it is the first chance the bank has to check your balance.
If there were no fee, you'd have even less incentive to pay attention to your finances. The attitude you display in your posting leads me to feel that your bank needs the fee to keep your honest. |

NSF=non-sufficient funds (?) Let me see if I understand you correctly. If you issue checks that "bounce", you want others to pay for your carelessness. Meanwhile the receiver of the bounced check, the bank, and others that are inconvenienced by your thoughtless actions have to put up with you. Is it ethical? Well, is your stupid action ethical? If your paycheck "bounced" would you give your employer a few "attaboys" and tell the bank that they were unethical? Grow up, child. |

I think it is ok ONLY if the bank covers/pays the transaction/s that overdrew or were written on the overdrawn account; like my federal credit union does. |
