There are two parties to Ford's problem. Party One is the management of Ford who did not keep their eye on the ball and kept making big vehicles in a changing market. Party Two is the UAW, who kept pushing for unbelievable wage and benefit goodies in the face of a changing market that clearly favors more nimble business organization.
The fault dear brutus lies not in our stars, but in ourselves. People who buy large, gas guzzling vehicles need to deal with their bad judgement. Gas will rise to $5 a gallon and we need to get real about our choices in terms of what we drive. |

I think its horrible. I wonder what country will be making ford cars now. I put a lot of the blame for this on the unions. When they first started they were wonderful. It was what the workers needed, but now the unions have priced America right out of business. I also have to say that the expression Made In America meant good workmenship and pride in your work, no more. To many times I have bought American and the product was terrible. Badly made and the price was high. If anyone complains they are made to feel like a traitor to the country. Dont get me wrong I love America.but some how we have to get back our pride. Stop sending work out of the country but make sure the work done here is good. I wonder how many of the Ford workers drive a Ford? Ask yourself, how many people do you know drives an American car? Or buys cloths or sneakers made in America. Ford is only one of the companies that will be letting people go. When other big companies see that Ford is doing better they will follow its lead. Wake up America before we become a third rate country. |

As a former union worker I have to admit the person above is right,once you become a union member the union will protect you no matter how bad a worker you are,corporations run by powerful unions, like our goverment are bloated with excess dead weight both with white collar and blue collar workers.If the auto industry does good through out the union contract the union will ask for big raises on the following contract in hourly wages which in turn raises the price of the autos which in turn makes car buyers cautious and more selective and in some cases postpone the buying of a car for a while,the big three auto makers use to get away with it before,but now there is to much competition from foreign auto makers |
