...I have found some good buys there (like shirts), but it seems understaffed, and not many shoppers. We had 2 of them in town - one closed its doors forever, and the other seems to keep hanging on. |

The local K-Mart has a bad reputation of having one price show on the shelf and another price rings up at the cash register. The price at the register, if different than what was marked on the shelf, is ALWAYS higher than the price it showed on the shelf so the consumer pays more unless they are paying attention. I've never had the "mistake" cut the other way, in the consumer's favor, and believe me I've watched carefully.
They've done it to me, more than once, so I have quit shopping there. I don't trust them. Their products aren't all that great and I feel like they're liars and cheats because of this "bait and switch" thing with the pricing.
Maybe it's not like that in all K-Marts but I feel that they're being slowly but surely wiped out by Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Target, Kohl's and various other companies. |

Most clothing at Walmart is of poor quality (there are exceptions!).
I often shop at Super Walmart (grocery), and find items such as pet food, cosmetics, shampoo, paper items etc. to be less expensive than at other stores, but since the minimum wage was raised, every item seems to rise in price weekly.
I agree with my astute colleague (RV...above) regarding shopping at smaller stores, however I disagree with him about most Walmart items being made overseas...I have purchased many American-made articles (hats, t-shirts, underwear, etc.) for the family. I also agree that Target is a more pleasant store to shop in. |

I like Target better, but remember...too large equals..."it comes from China." Wal-Mart is the worst offender..If you don't give the smaller stores your business...the economy will worsen |

it is not a well perceived corporation. they try to compete but aren't doing well. they came out of bankruptcy a few years back. |
