I refuse to shop at WM. They are the worst. Everytime I have been in the local store, there have been pallets all over the place and people stocking crap/blocking aisles during peak shopping times. The middle of the day is not the time to be stocking shelves. The employees are the worst ever. Instead of doing their jobs, they stand around talking to their friends. Or when they are working they move so slow, that you just give up on whatever you were needing help with. Complaining doesn't do any good (Bentonville has gotten many complaints from me). People here use walmart as a babysitter. The parents dump their kids off and come back 4-5 hours later and pick them up. Made is the USA my ***.
I drive 20+ miles to shop somewhere other than walmart. We also shop at the local family businesses that have been here for years. |

wal-mart is pretty nifty
it has many stuff to choose from
plus at low prices than its competitor
the clothing however is not always high fashion
but alot of the graphic tees are cool
so yeah wal-mart is great
good for daily gorcery shopping
haha it does have a good monopoly
better than target and k-mart i'll tell you that |

I work for Wal-Mart. It's a giant, greedy corporation with, in the bigger picture, a desire for nothing else than to dominate the world and grow as rich and powerful for its executives as it can, leaving its slave workers in the dust.
P.S. Do not work there if you have any ambition at all, unless you are fortunate enough to be hired into at least middle-level management. |

As an employee in Reasor's, an Oklahoma competitor to Walmart, I feel that Walmart offers some of the best deals with good convienence. Yet the customer service and produce quality of the store may not be as high as a smaller store. I have no problems with business of that size; honestly they have not really impaired the grocery market at all. Competitors are still in business and offer small accomodations. |

I hate it, but cant live without it lol,
Cant stand going there with all the crowds of people, the horrible lighting, and especially with new super walmarts, the whole warehouse feel of it all o.O; bathrooms are never clean, always step on sticky stuff in the store, and their carts are always squeaky and rattle too much,
But alas, they have what i need, super nearby, and prices are very cheap, so whenever i go to a store to get something, i'm sort of required to go to wal-mart, whether i like it or not......... i try to take a break and go elsewhere, but when each grocery item is 2$ cheaper than another store, and you can buy kids clothing for $2-3 o.O; it wouldnt be the smartest thing to do........
monopoly and effects on america? ~.~ Walmart is the McDonalds of retail.............. sure there are many other stores, like there are much *better* restaurants, but with the price, the promotion, and convienience, we are all dragged to it......
its a blessing and a curse at the same time, but no one will ever have to worry about walmart losing business ~.~;; ack, im needing to go there today again lol....... |

I am glad I have the choice to shop at Walmart or anywhere else.
----ADDED 7/18---
I guess people giving me the "thumbs down" think I shouldn't be allowed to have the choice to shop at Walmart or anywhere else! |

I hate it because it is always overcrowded with rude people who run you over with their carts or block the isle and ignore you so you are stuck and cant get through. But I think they are brilliant and unfortunantly even though Ihate going there........ I do most of my shopping there because it is so affordable! |

Wal-Mart is notorious for its messy stores, horribly long lines, and complete absence of customer service. I currently work in a home decor store and even with our 300% margin we're often 33-50% cheaper than our big competitors. Wal-Mart has however forced many retailers to discard the idea that a business can't survive on anything less than a 200% mark-up. I'm always shocked when I go into a different grocery store and see what they have the audacity to charge for identical items.
Unions hate Wal-Mart because they're not getting a cut of their workers' money and because union operated businesses can't afford to compete with pretty much anyone because of their bloated costs. Some people complain about Wal-Mart's health care coverage and costs, but if you've ever had to live off a couple of part time jobs you'd know that outside of them it is damn near impossible to find anyone that will even offer insurance for part-timers.
I am assuming you are not a fan of Wal-Mart and I believe you misspoke when you called them a monopoly. They have a ton of competition. Every category is up against specialized retailers and Target is gaining ground against them every day and many regional stores continue to thrive against them. They ran a lot of small business owners under, but overall have created far more jobs. The mom and pop stores were often the same people who tried to perpetuate the afore mentioned 200+% margin business model on top of the fact their inefficient, multiple middle-man supply channels often inflated their their costs by a third or more before they ever touched an item.
Overall I believe Wal-Mart is unfairly demonized. They have more than their share of problems to be sure, but people are quick to overlook all of the positives they've created as well. |

It's the devil. Most of my money goes there. My job should just start depositing my check in their account. JK! They are very convienient and you can get EVERYTHING there. |

I hate the walmart here in CA. They are over crowded, not 24hr like other states, and don't have enough people running the checkout. |

It is an OK store. Monopoly - this should not be everybodies problem. The adult that is mature should know what to do. And since a lot people that shop are almost all adult (I don't know about their maturity) people that's mature should not be affected by those immature adult. Do you sell at Walmart? |

How is WalMart a monopoly? Where I live we have K-Marts,Targets,Walgreens,several large malls,on line shops, the list is endless.I find they are usually the lowest cost of any other store in the area.If you don't like them-don't go there! |
