What do you think of corporate social responsibilities?
Do you think they are necessary or they're just an extra?

Corporate Socail Responsibility (CSR) is a topic that has been widely debated among various business circles. However, one has to really understand as to why must a corporation spend its hard earned money in something where it doesn't see a return in directly. Lets analyze.

Since corporations earn their profits directly or indirectly from the society, it is felt, in general, that a part of their earnings should be ploughed back into the society. This necessarily doesn't mean that it contributes only in the form of money but rather in the form of service. For example, companies like Microsoft contribute heavily to their chairman's foundation (sometimes as high as $ 1 billion).

However, CSR is mainly objected on the grounds that the profits that a corporation earns, is strictly for the welfare and benefits of the shareholders.

However, recent studies indicate that when a corporation contributes to their CSR fund, it only improves their image in the society and also with the government. In such a case a corporation may get eligible for various tax breaks from the government for their CSR activities. Some pro CSR economists also argue that CSR activities by itself are a good substitute to advertisements as CSR is widely reported in the general media as corporate news. It is generally seen that if a company contributes $1 in the form of CSR, it generally gets direct and indirect benefits of more than $1. It is precisely for this sound economic logic that the shareholders of big corporations have no objection in principle for a company's CSR activities.

The Social resposibility of corporate to take care of society.Every Corporate policy is to earn maximise profits TO maximise profit the corporate sell the product at a higher price. At the same time corprate has a social responsilblity to give social justice to the people in the country so the govt will intervene in such a situation and start the pratice of price restriction and quoto restriction for the Company.so corparate sector has the responsbilty to take care of society

Yes, it is necessary for corporations to have social responsibility as corporations now have more power and influence than national governments. If corporations show good example they benefit from positive public image. Can be as good as advertising. They also have lots of resources at their disposal (money & international structure) to help aid world problems such as famine or world trade issues. if on the other hand they ignore social issues such as child labour or the enviornment.they will lose customers
