i have no idea, but i know ihop stands for international house of pancakes. :-)
i dont think walmart stands for anything.

?
The WAL portion of Walmart is an abbreviation of the last name of the founder of the company, Sam WALton. Mart is a world wide term meaning a market place.

do you mean the letters or just in general did you see walmart the high cost of low prices. it will open your eyes. we don't have a walmart here we have to drive 40 miles to get to one but i do go there and do my grocery shopping because the grocery store here charges overly high prices because they have no competition.

The Sam Walton is the name of the guy who invented the largest chain of stores in the world with the name of WalMart. WAL is the first three letters of his last name, Mart obviously means a place to buy goods.

He has another chain of stores with his first name "Sam's Club" wherein you need a membership to buy goods here.

The Legacy of Mr. Sam, Mrs Walton, and Bud Walton may not last so what will the current Chairman of the Board of Directors do?

Is it true that Mr. Thomas "Tom" M Coughlin former Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors was about to tell the world how Wal-Mart has changed?

Mr. Coughlin was a confidant and protege of Samuel Moore Walton

Thanks for your question

Yea people hear so many things, dont believe them all. Wal-Mart is the best corporation ever, working only with the customers in mind. They dont give a **** about what competitors think or how competitors do their business. Wal-Mart keep doing what it does, and it does it very well.
