General definition on a company whole not keeping in mind it is a supermarket is this:
A person who assists customers via service to aide them in concerns or needs on behalf of the representing company employing them.
since you did say supermarket,
This could range to as simple as cashier, customer service desk (checking up for in stock items, special items orders, refunds, etc.), to as simple a bag checker.
Instead of being paranoid, she should simply ask the list of duties for the position she is applying for when she gets to the interview. Then she has a clear understanding of the store's expectations. This way, she can with reasonable knowledge determine if it something she doesn't mind doing as job vs. it is not attractive at all. It will allow her to then determine to pursue the position further or avoid this description in the supermarket industry in the future. |

If its a Customer Service Assistant at a supermarket then your friend will more then likely be behind the customer service counter. My sister used to work for Kroger and whe was a customer service assistant and she did things like returns, money orders, sold six flags season passes, and lots of other customer service things. and also worked a register sometimes.

There's no telling what it could be. Honestly, because it really depends on the business and boss. Every company has different responsibilities for every position. That very position at my company could mean something completely different than what that Supermarket considers it to be. |

Best thing to do is contact a customer service assistant in a major company/corporation to try and get a problem resolved. You will then discover that they do absolutely nothing.
They work behind a recorded message that says something like, "You are number 147 in the queue, our experience tells us that your call will be answered by a customer services assistant within approximately 24 hours. Don't hang up or you will lose your place in the queue. |
