The increase in fee's have weeded a lot of people out. I know for myself, the time wasn't worth it when your profit margin was only 5-10% on something. It's the cycle of things though, as Ebay swells and is more and more oriented towards larger volume clients(Ebay's bread winners), another company will start up catering once again to the little guy.
It's what happens when a business becomes public and has to answer to shareholders. No matter the cost or at who's expense, a profit must be made. Not just any profit either as it must be in line with what people expect or there's a price to pay. In this instance the price paid is the little guy. |

All their fees are pushing out the smaller sellers. It's difficult to make any sort of profit if you're small time anymore. |

Ebay just got too big and fell into the hands of people turning it into a business. Once something gets that big, it can't help but fall into the corporate stream. it's the basic online life cycle. Start small, private individuals keep it alive, it becomes popular so more people start to exploit it, these people make money and it becomes a business, next thing you know it becomes corporate, then a new small online site pops up (such as craigs list) that starts the cycle all over. soon enough, the same thing will happen to craigs list and another site will pop up. its just the internet life cycle. |

I have to agree with you. I used to go there to find deals on things, but I don't even look there anymore because I know I probably won't find it any cheaper. Most of them time, if the price is cheaper, then the shipping is so high it is ridiculous. I'm not sure why this is going on though. |

Between eBay and Papal the fees can be high. If you sell, you know that people do still come for bargains - they don't want to pay for what I list, anyway... |

Too many rip-off artists on there. I got scammed on something I bought on there (buyer had excellent rating too) so I am not comfortable buying stuff on there anymore. |

Unfortunatly I think it is due to the time of year. I saw a new WII on sale on craigslist going for, GET THIS $3000 dollars. It's unreal what ppl. will do for a quick buck this time of yr. |

The problem with it is that people keep buying the stuff. I agree it is harder to find a bargain on Ebay than it is in the mall. |

Ebay went so far downhill. Seller ratings mean nothing and it's so hard to turn a decent profit why bother.
I've bought three things from Ebay each one was a mistake. First one was wrong color from what I ordered. Second one was used and had cat hair all over it (yuck). Third one the plug was cracked open and a serious fire hazard.
I didn't buy shippers insurance or buyers insurance or whatever else I was supposed to buy to cover what was supposed to be an honest sale and purchase. I don't think one should have to purchase 3 million dollars worth of insurance on a $100 dollar purchase. So I was out the money. No big deal, lesson learned. I'm done with it.
I've bought so much stuff off Craigslist and never had a problem. Thousands of dollars worth without an insurance policy or anything other than an email and a promise sometimes the seller will give me a call to make sure I'm legit and that's it.
Ebay ate themselves just as Wal Mart did. It's too bad. |

They're still on there but they're being outnumbered. Ebay has become so big that everybody is trying to make a buck off of it. They need to have a different category for companies and regular folks that are using the site like it was originally intended to be used. |

I can't really give you an answer but I can agree with you. I have stopped going ont here now because of it. I have been shocked by some of the prices myself and I can't beleive people would pay over the odds for stuff. It's rubbish now and you can no longer get a bargain. |

I dont know. I've noticed it too and I hate it! I also don't like their new layout on everyone's "My ebay" page. It stinks in my opinion.
I used to absolutely love ebay but it's not as great anymore. |

I have so much I want to sell, but I just can't compete with those people from China and stuff. It's like no one ever comes to eBay anymore to get vintage items for a bargain. :( |
