You worked 9-5, lunch might have been from 12-1, you had 2 paid 10-15 minute breaks (morning and afternoon).
Additional Details
Many corps even had coffee carts with snacks and sandwiches come around for the 10-15 minute breaks

I grew up working in Kansas and most folks worked 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 with an unpaid lunch hour. Some places had coffee breaks, some did not.

Then I moved to New Mexico and we were allowed to get up from our desk to go get refills on our coffee but we got the coffee then had to go back and sit at the desk and work.

I've never worked anywhere where it was 9 to 5... and certainly never heard of the coffee carts! Must be nice!

When I owned my own business, it was 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 (that's 8 hours of work) and we did have coffee breaks: 10 to 10:15 and 3 to 3:15.

Ours has always been 8 hours work
Normally 0800-1200 and 1300-1700.
Smoko at 1000 and 1500 (10-15 mins)
Lunch 1200-1300
Others would have 30 mins for lunch and finish at 1630.
I used to work 0600-0430 (10 hour days) 4 days a week. I had Fridays off, others had Mondays off, that way the company was getting 50 hours production per week.
When we were busy we were called in on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays and do 70 hour week, often for up to 19 days straight.
Hard on the body, but great in the pay packet. After the first 40 hours the rest was overtime at time and a half.
