ISO 9001-2000 is a Quality Management System. Here this speaks for the requirements to be met by any organisation to deliver a quality product or service while doing business.
There are agencies like BVQI, TUV, DNV etc. who are the certifying agencies.
The company which does business and wants to be ISO-9000 certified approaches these agencies for certification
ISO 9000 is a process oriented approach for maintaining quality.
A ISO 9000 certified company means the processes are well defined and there is clarity in what the company wants to do in maintaining the process the achieve the desired results.

ISO is the International Organization for Standardization. They simply provide standards for lots of things from CD formatting, to paperwork for offices, and even some auto parts. The 9000 is the number of the standard. |

ISO = International Organization for Standardization
It's basically a Standardization. It just means that the truck meets certain regulatory standards.

You'll see this a lot in the computer field too. |

ISO is not only for trucks, or even just for vehicles.
It means that a certain level of manufacturing (sometimes servicing, or quality assurance) standards has been met. Maybe cleanliness or air temperature, or use of measurement standards, or anti-static protection during manufacturing process.
Being ISO 9000 is necessary in order to get certain gov't contracts.
Sometimes, ISO 14000 is necessary, which is even more stringent on the requirements.
So whatever it exactly means for a certain vehicle, i'm not sure, but that's what I know about ISO. |

It's authenticated. ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. When it's ISO certified, you are assured that it met the international standards that are set for that particular products or equipment. It also means that you are guaranteed by the product's quality. The number stands for the registration - comparable to a student number of a student or a social security number of an employee. |
