What is a executive recruiter and how do they differ from a regular recruiter? Additional Details To provide more detail, I keep seeing ads for executive recruiters, just wanted to know if this is somethng I should get into? Are they normally paid only on commission vs base or does it depend on company? I am currently just a regular recruiter. I hear there is more money potential for exec. recruiters.
an executive recruiter focuses on higher level positions, usually senior level.

They are recruiting executives. That is a whole different pay grade than just a recruiter. Executives can and do get big bucks because they have rare talents. They generally don't need jobs so are harder to recruit. Just getting in to see them can be very difficult.

You aren't being clear enough...it's either a recruiter who brings in executives. or a recruiter with an executive (ex. VP) title

from the job title, i think it is a specialist who recruit people that are of executive levels.
however, do take note that "job title" might not represent the "job scope". thus, it is important for you to check out with the company about the tasks and responsibilities associated with the position.
in terms of pay, it is also very much dependent on the company offering the position. normally, executive recruiter will have part of the salary based on commission and i believe will be slightly higher than normal recuiting as the candidates involved are executives with higher salary and difficulty to source.
