Rico Trump | What is a reasonable raise if you start at $32,000? |
After a year. What should I expect?
Give me a number for the following:
Bad performance =
Normal performance =
Excellent performance =
What amount would be reasonable? |

Bad Performance = $32,500
Normal Performance = $33,000
Excellent Performance = $34,000
Good luck with your raise!!! |

Normally, a 3-5% annual raise could be expected but in this time of recession, I wouldn't expect anything. Many people are having to give up 401(k) matching, hours, or take pay cuts. Get a feel for wants happening at your company. It may not behoove you to ask for raise.
I'm not sure what number you're asking for. If you want a percentage, try this: Excellent performance = 70%, Normal performance = 100%, bad performance = 2%. |

You want a raise for bad performance?? You must work for the government.
Normal performance should see a raise of 2-3% and excellent performance 3-5%. But in tough economic times still having a job might be prize enough without any increase. |

Bad performance= no raise, you're fired
Normal performance= no raise, you just demonstrated that you're
capable. You keep the job.
Excellent performance= 2.5% |

It depends on your company's policy. They may just give everyone a set amount. These days, typical raises are probably around 3 - 5%. |

Bad performance = standard of living based on inflation if you have a wealthy employer who just gives these increases just because. Which would be about 3-4% so we'll use 3.5% to be fair$ which for you would equal $1,120 totalling $33,120. But since bad performance usually gets reward with termination or you just getting to keep your job expect $0 or your normal $32,000.
Normal performance = well then you'd actually be entitled to your 3-4% for doing your job, but that's all you'd probably get so an increase of the amount above.
Excellent performance = this varies per employer. But you're probably not looking to get more than 8-10% unless you're changing positions for over achieving. So let's stick it at 9. Which for you equals $2,880 which would give you $34,880
But this is heavily dependent upon where you work and if you're getting a promotion and a raise or just a raise. Some companies don't give you a raise until after three years on the job in some cases. And the reason I say this is because in my first job I was making $30,000 and then I was given a promotion after 8months to a new position with a salary of $38,500 because I performed well and the boss had great confidence. The next was simple increase of 4% following 10months to $40,200 and then another promotion 4months later took me to 42,006. So if you average out 06-08 which is three years I'm up 12,200 divided by 3 which is just over $4,000 a year. So you really can't expect too much more than that for just a raise if you're not changing positions, but it also depends on where you work. I'm working with a non-profit at large corporations this might be totally different. |
