i read in economics book that inflation means "TOO MUCH CURRENCIES CHASES TOO FEW GOODS"
now you can understand wat it is inflation. in india it is calculated on the basis of WPI (wholesale price index) usually these are given by central statistical organisation(CSO) but there is argument that cpi is better than wpi. Actually in mkt. what happens is peoples purchasing power beats the supply side. That is why central bank hikes interest retes and makes its efforts to curb inflation. In india inflation already at 16 year high and it may go to 15%+ |

inflation means that there is excess money supply in relation to goods resulting in raising of price level. thus inflation is the rise in prices of commodities. it is measured by cost of living index etc. the inflation may be owing to increase in cost and/or increase in demand. thus there are demand pull and cost pull inflation. both, demand and cost may affect the inflation. |
