What is it that attracts scammers to an email address?
You know the scams where someone, usually from Africa with really bad writing skills, tells you they need your help to transfer money. They transfer it to your bank and then to theirs and they'll give you a certain percantage of the money for your help. All you have to do is give them your bank details.
I get these every day, and I'm not exaggerating. Today I got 8 of them. Yet my other email address doesn't get any. So why does one address get so many?
You're getting email because your email address is in someones database or its on a website that automated email harvesters can see. If I type myemailaddress123456@yahoo.com here, a robot will eventually come along and add it to the list. Also, if you give out your address online. The numbers, letters, length, etc. have nothing to do with it.

It's because you have an easy to crack account name and one that is predictable. Change it to a series of letters and numbers that only you know and don't give it out to strangers.
For instance use your dads old army number if he has one, do you get the idea.
Do that and you won't be bothered again.
Bin any mail you don't recognise, don't open them because if you do they have you, you have just confirmed your address to them.

The reason you get more Spam on one account and not the other has to do with the name of the account, who you provide the email account name to and if your IP is running Spam blocker or not.
