MLM = SCAM
The great majority of people that get involved with these types of marketing end up losing $1000's. I've personally known several people who got pumped up by the hype, just KNEW that they were going to get rich, and ended up having to make payments for years to pay off a stupid debt.
Ask yourself this: if it was THAT EASY for anyone off the street to walk in, start selling their product, and make a fortune, then why isn't everyone doing it? |

MLM means MultiLevel Marketing.
It is business scheme, where participants are individual contractors to (typically) some company, and do the marketing and selling of the goods for the company, and get proportional bonus.
Note that there are many similarities to illegal Pyramid or Ponzi scheme, which is basically scam. Often the Pyramid Schemes try to disguise themselves as MLM, so if you are offered to participate in one, be careful. If the offer sounds too good to be true, and it seems that there is little effort needed to get money, then it is very likely variant of Pyramid Scheme, and there is chance that you either will loose your money (even if it is small) - or will be participating in illegal scheme. |

Multi-Level Marketing is a controversial scheme where you recruit people to sell a product, and they recruit more people, etc. Examples include Amway and Mary Kay, as well as hundreds of other, less-reputable companies.
New recruits are required to purchase a substantial amount of product to sell, and if they cannot sell it they do not get their money back. |
