The probation period is the time given to the employer and also to the employee to find out if they are suited to each other. during probation, the employee can be asked to go without any problems for the employer and with out any obligations. "Hire and fire" applies during the probation period. Similarly, the employee can leave without giving any notice period, if he gets a better job and simply cannot function in the present environment. The probation period varies from organisation to organisation and may be as little as 3 months and go on up to 2 years also. In some organisations, they even stipulate a right to extend the probation period, if performance is not up to the employer's expectations. |
