What is the difference between being a hardworking professional and workaholic? Where ‎do you draw your line?

kittykid
A 'hardworking professional' is one who put in a lot of hard work, to ensure that his output proves to be among the best in the market - and then goes home to spend quality time with his or her loved ones, completely blocking-off all thoughts about his/her work !
A 'workaholic', on the other hand, is one whose subconscious forcibly immerses him/her in work - even though their work may not even be satisfying ! They become so, only, or mainly, to avoid having to interact with one's family and acquaintances ! [Such persons seldom have friends.]
A 'line' can be drawn at the border where one's passion for work, and affection for one's loved ones, attempt to overlap each other !

it's all about priorities. when work is above family, above health, above most other important aspects of life.

how can u find what ur priorities are? simple. when u get seriously injured do u still go to work or u go to the doctor? there are other similar questions that can help u reveal which ur real priorities are and what's more important to u.

a workoholic is when you have no limits to the time you are working and it disrupts your personal life. when you sorta lose control over it i guess..

a hard worker never brings his job at home whereas the other one does otherwise and to some extent never goes home for those special occasions

I draw the line when I realize I have no time to myself, no quality of life. I had a great job a couple of years ago but it took me away from my home too much. I finally had to decide that I valued some quality down time at home and could live on less money.

it depends on what your priorities are. Are you working to get ahead or are you hiding from life through working all the time? Do you feel like you have time to enjoy life? If a friend asked you to a concert, could you go? Does your pet know what you look like? stuff like that.

A hard working professional is one who works hard. A workholic is a person who not only works hard but there is nothing in his mind except work.

The 1st does a great job, takes their job seriously and is successful, the 2nd on the other hand takes it TOO seriously, never thinks about anything but their job, family life suffers and they forget how to have fun! What a horrible thing, without fun, what is the point of this whole parade?
