any oil enriched country can put any price they want on oil. No limit, and because they can
Mentioned below someone said priced by market, this is true, but the country that sells it can put what ever price they want on it. Look and listen to what Charvez is wanting to do, He is lobbying other countries to make the US pay more and for other countries that are not as developed to pay less. He has outright declared his hate for the US. Sorry I'm about to get off the subject. Point is they can put what ever price they want on OIL.

Theoretically there’s no limit; especially when the price is in US Dollars which is going down as well – One can argue that the price in £ is not changing much. However, the true is that the price is getting higher and all depends of the geopolitics involved: OPEC, Iran, Hugo Chaves (Venezuela), Guerrillas in Nigeria, Sudan (Darfur), China (increasing the consume), Russia & Kazakhstan (halting existing projects and changing rules), Iraq, …etc, etc.

put simply
the price the producer asks and the price consumers will pay,at the moment the falling $ is also giving prices a rise

Crude oil is a commodity. The amount of natural crude oil is somewhat limited. This is the basis of the peak oil theory. Alternatives to crude oil exist, so over the long run crude should not exceed the price of the alternatives. Coal is the most likely solution in the near term: http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/energy/

Firstly, prices are determined by the market not the producer country. Most price fluctuation and increases have come from speculation into the future . . . a supply and demand scenario. Currency valuations have an effect too, and with the US dollar at a low against other major currencies, oil is effectively higher because oil is priced in US dollars. Oil producing countries (OPEC) could increase output to ease supply but they haven't as yet, as a high price means bigger revenue. Relatively speaking, oil is not as high as it was during the previous oil crisis but it is getting closer . . . $120 a barrel would just about get it there. This is a psychological marker for the markets and it is very possible that prices could go this far and even further. There is no cap on the exact price oil will rise to . . . we would all be rich if we knew what the future held. My guess is that it will hit $100 . . rest a while . . . and then go up again.

No limit.

The reasons for the increases are - instability in oil nations, falling $ and decreasing reserves.

Joan el guiri
There is no limit. Oil prices will go up until nobody wants oil.

The present 'problem' is made worse by the fact that the dollar has been badly devalued by George Bush and his ridiculous 'war on terror'.

Perhaps OPEC should go to valuing oil in pounds sterling or Euros.

It should also be noted that OPEC is a cartel. Its only purpose is to make oil as expensive as possible.

The fact that the 7/11 guys were Saudis or lived there should make people realise that OPEC members, and especially Arab oil producers, are not our friends.
