In a company, the president is usually the overall boss - the chairman (unigender term) of the Board of Directors of the company. In most cases, the president is the owner of the company. Where a company is small, a president can also serve both as a CEO.and President - that is s/he runs the daily activities of the company (manages) while at the same time, s/he presides over the future of the company (president).
The CEO or Chief Executive Officer is the company's manager. S/He is the one who oversees the daily activities of the company. As such, s/he is subordinate to the Board of Directors and the President in particular.
