You must be available to work any shift any day of the week. Shifts typically run 7a-3p, 3p-11p and11p-7a if you are on an 8 hr. shift. You may also have rotating on-call which means you must be able to be reached by phone or pager at any given time and may have to be able to come in to work within a certain amount of time from being called/paged. It means that you will be expected to work floating days and shifts (hours) on a rotating basis, but that you can expect to be called in on emergency situations.
You need to get a very specific schedule and then know what are your rights under the terms of emergency and being called in from your off-time to work. How is money paid is it based on shift or days worked or both?
Can you be flexible enough to work those type of requirements? Few can, young people can for a while, but it gets old fast. If you get very good money then it may be worth if for a while, if you can live through it!
