The oldest company in the world, and still going today is a Japanese construction company called Kongo Gumi, and was founded in 578AD, some 1400 years ago.

The next oldest is also a Japanese company called Ho-Shi, which is a Hotel chain, estd in 717AD.

Funnily enough, six of the world 20 oldest companies are Japanese.

The oldest European company is an Austrian firm called St. Peter (3rd), which is a Restaurant chain started in 803AD.

The UKs oldest company is Aberdeen Harbour (13th), which was founded in 1136AD.

And who would have thought the oldest French company was a wine manufacturer?
Called Goulaine (4th), it was started in 1000AD on the dot.

Have no idea, trouble is most will have merged, been bought out, or changed their identity to keep up with the times. I'm guessing companies like wilkinson sword have been making weopons since early sword battles, cant think of much else for now.
