Smile and be as accomodating as possible. With overly belligerent customers, pacify them by calling your superior-observe how they handle it and mold yourself that way for the next one.
Good luck, it's never easy! |

The first response is to listen to the customer, and make sure you understand what the problem really is. Sometimes they walk in the door with the attitude" I am going to have problems". If you really have a bad one, call your supervisor. |

Welcome to the world of customer service!
Take a deep breathe and try to see it from their point of view.
If you are calm and genuinely interested in resolving their issue, that will come across.
"I can understand that" lets someone know they are heard and can go a long way toward helping to calm them down.
I also like the other answer, about learning by watching someone else if you are not experienced in this area.
Always remember not to take it personally, keep your own voice calm, and be polite even if it means excusing yourself to get a manager because it is getting ridiculous.
People can make your whole day, or really try to mess it up.
Kinda keeps it interesting, not to mention keeping you on your toes.
Always a learning opportunity, so enjoy:) |

I often feel their life is harder than mine ,
So I am usually compassionate .
If they are terminally difficult , then call a manager .

Gee I do not know, I have been one of those customers.
There is this discount store in town called Alco. In back they have clearance racks. There are two of them. The sign says 70 percent off the ticket price. Then I go to pay. And it does not ring up 70 percent off. So then I am told, I can not help it that people put clearance clothes back on the wrong rack. We do not have to stand back there and sort the clothes and make sure they are on the same rack. So one night I refused to leave the check out until I was given 70 percent off. In all reality it is not my fault that the workers are to lazy to sort the clothes. There are times when the customer is correct. |
