On the moral end, how they exploit workers in Asia and South America. Their working conditions and "pay" (if you can call it that) are truly horrendous. On the consumer end, I hate their long lines and their incompetent staff (well what does the staff care about doing their job correctly.. it's not like they're being paid a decent wage!). I only go there when I must. I also don't like their conservative stance; I definitely don't agree with what they choose to market and what they reject..... Another thing is how they've successfully killed the ma and pa store.. they're taking over, accomplishing a monopoly, and that's not what America is about. We're digging our own grave.
Walmart: Greed and Heartlessness at it's worst |

I worked at Walmart. You're treated poorly if you're an "associate". As a customer, the employees don't want to do their job. We were taught in training, that we are supposed to load the customers bags up into their cart. Do you think one of those lazy idiots do it? Nope. They stand there waiting for you to do it.
Thankfully, I don't work there anymore and I rarely shop there. I go to Target. |

Walmart doesn't care about American's it just wants our money.
It supports the Chinese economy by having 90% of its products manufactured in China and sold in the U.S. many times to people w/low wages or who lost their job due to this outsourcing.
Walmart = GREED |

"The owners of one of America's premiere retail corporations is comprised of five of the ten richest people in the world, all from the same family.
Their personal wealth eclipses $100 BILLION dollars. Last year the company's CEO was paid a cool $11.5 million, more than the annual salaries of 765 of his employees combined! The company's profits are over $7 BILLION annually.
In these difficult economic times how do they do it?
* This company runs ads featuring the United States flag and proclaims "We Buy American". In 2001 they moved their worldwide purchasing headquarters to China and are the largest importer of Chinese goods in the US, purchasing over $10 BILLION of Chinese-made products annually. Products made mostly by women and children working in the labor hell-holes China is famous for." |

Wow, there are many. I don't like the cheap crap that they sell. I don't like how they treat/pay their employees. I don't like how they are ruining the American Dream by running all the mom and pop stores out of business. I don't like how they treat their suppliers.
In tough times we turn to Walmart because of their cheap prices. But the question is would our economy be as bad as it is if the biggest retail store in the world started treating those around it a little better. Instead of trying to just line their own pockets. |

They know people still perceive them as having the lowest prices, but they aren't nearly the value that they once were. Secondly, even during the week during the day, you still have to wait in long lines. They are so concerned about their bottom-line, they won't schedule more cashiers for our convenience. Thirdly, my local Wal-mart is only competing against 1 grocery store and one semi-grocery store, with no Target or direct competitor for 60 miles! They know this, so the store isn't always perfectly clean, they don't replace enough light bulbs, so it's not well-light and they are out of common items often! (There is at least 1 item that I need that they are out of or 1 item that they should carry, that they don't or stopped carrying every single time I use to shop there.)
I realized the local grocery store is really only a few cents more on items (as long as I stick with store brand, which works for 95% of what I need) and they always have plenty of cashiers AND baggers. I think the longest I've ever waited at that store is still under 10 minutes...and that was on Friday night. My grocery bills are only a few dollars more. To me it's worth it! Or, if I need housewares, I'll wait until I'm near the Target or the Wal-mart that is 40 miles away. (It's a lot cleaner, usually stocked well, and they have self-check out lanes.) |

That they will call just about anything a Superstore. There is a big, big difference between a Superstore in Kansas, and California. |

I absolutley hate the fact that at the end of a shift, the register TURNS OFF!!!! At least at the ones where I live. It seems like every time, EVERYTIME I shop there, I will get to the register and it turns off and the employee is embarassed because there is no backup, and now they are stuck with an angry line...EVERYTIME!!! ARGH!!! |

When they have three registers open, and every one of them is checking out someone with huge buggies full of stuff. And they refuse to open up another register. |

They never have what I want. They'll have something close, but well, I like the explicit lyrics. And stuff I can't snap with my fingertips. And sturdy fabrics. And fresh, unbeaten produce. And stylish clothes. And getting premium product for premium prices. Did I miss anything?
(On a side note, they're rat b*****ds to work for. I did my time there, so I know.) |

I think that WalMart is one of these entities thats a victim of its own success. Yes, they have everything under one roof and sometimes that's nice, but have you ever tried to stop there for just a few things and get out of there quickly? I usually don't go there anymore unless I'm really going to load up on a lot of things. It just takes too long to find a place to park, navigate through all of the endless aisles, shoulder your way through the throngs of crowds, wait at the long checkout lines, etc. If you are going to go there, you'd better have a lot of time on your hands. I usually shop at smaller places even if the price is somewhat higher because my shopping time is limited, and I'm a busy person.
Edit:
Tip: When I do go to WalMart (which these days isn't very often) I usually go between 2 am and 4 am. Less crowds, and the only minus is you have to navigate around the pallets and boxes of people restocking the shelves. Don't try to go in the afternoon or evening, especially on weekends. |
