To be a good leader, you need to be able to communicate well with your employees. How well? It should be with tact. You also need to know how to get them to feel important with where they are and in what they do.
Apart from that, you need to have the ability to spread enthusiasm among your employees and also among those whom you work closely with. This can be done through praise.
Treating inferiors as partners is also considered a good move as those who work for you will feel that they are part of the corporation. It is also like telling them that "it's either you're with me or you're not".
Being a leader does not necessarily mean that you need to set yourself as an example for your inferiors because natural leaders do not need experience in leading people. Obviously, once in a while, you need to be the example in order to gain the people's trust but not all the time. The reason is that it can be very detrimental to your position as leader if you decide to be always the example that everyone should follow.
At last you also need to gain respect from your inferiors. Gaining respect can be done by showing everyone your good points, for example, the ability to trust people and not doubt their working abilities. Earning respect is also very important in leadership. If not, who would want to listen to you if they do not respect you? |
