What makes a good service in a shop/store?
what type of service will make you glad to carry on shopping in that store? eg. politeness, quickness etc.

It's finding a balance between being there if you need them and being polite and being over attentive.

American stores are over-friendly, they seem to pounce on you as soon as you walk in the store before you've had a chance to look.

In Spanish stores, the shop attendants seem to be more interested in talking to each other or on their mobile phones to friends.

I find that the British style is almost the right balance. They acknowledge you when you come in without 'pouncing' on you. Then they let you choose and help you when you need help.
..Except for some expensive shops when they look at you as if you're not good enough to shop in their store. I find that discusting, they forget that they only work in a shop, they don't own the shop, because if they did they'd value each and every customer.

Recognition of the customer. I have been in shops where the staff completely ignore you or if you're a regular they will treat yoiu with contempt, as if your presence has violated their doss hours. I would say that all the normal things are important, but people skills are a must if you're going to run a sucessful business- after all you don't want to piss off an already irate client.

Nice manners, quick service and politeness, also I think building
up a rapport with the customers as you get to know them.
