People can entertain themselves without any effort. They dont need anyone else with them, they can jump from one topic to another as they please, they can converse/battle/be helpful or nasty with others online and not have the reality 'face to face' side of things to deal with. They can find out anything.. even google their boss lol

I guess it's because you can do quite alot of stuff on it. Games, chat, download, buy/sell, search for answers etc. For me mostly it's because I can chat to people all over the world and just randomly browse the net for something interesting. |

Technically the internet is not addictive as by definition addiciton involves the ever increasing usage of something in order to obtain the same desired affect or satisfaction amongst other defining defintions and variables. With the internet you can go on holiday for two weeks and not worry about getting home back to the internet to satsify your urges although at home on a usual basis be constantly accessing it. Its the fact that the internet is becoming the " societal norm" that people label themselves as addicted to the net it is merely behaviour patterns that people find themselves using technology to there advantage |
