You need to be ultra careful when it comes to development of fuel cell tech. Some companies (PLUG for example) don't design. They manufacture. Meaning that they don't care who comes up with the best design, they will cheaply manufacture it for you. There are other companies that engage into development of fuel cells such as Toyota, GE, GM (sadly). I wouldn't recommend going that route though.
There is a key problem that every one of those companies face. Lack of a cheap and good catalyst. Platinum is just too expensive. There is only one company (that I know of) that is getting very close to the solution and they aren't publicly traded though the way things are going it will change in about a year or so.
