DBG | What should i do!!!? |
i got a new job, and so i gave a letter of resignation which served as a letter of notice of a month as per the contract, to the managing director of the company on the 10, the he refused to accept it, and told me to give it to the the general manager (GM)who arrived from his holiday on the 16th, so i gave him the same letter effective from the 10th, the GM is now telling me to go and talk to the MD, wats happening, what should i do, i've worked for three years and if i wait longer than i'll lose my new job....help |

I would give it to the MD and say I have tried to go by the contract but on the 10th I gave it to the managing director and he/she stated I needed to give it to the GM which was not in until the 16th and now he told me I need to give it to you, it has been a pleasure working here and have enjoyed my 3 years but I need to move on for..... job...
You have tried to follow policy it is not your fault don't pass away the new job over this companies lack of management in taking a resignation. |

Hi
So long as you gave your notice to your line manager then it is effective from the time you gave it to them, they have no right or power to not accept it.
Enjoy your newe job |

you have every right to resign if you want to. as long as you did your part in providing them the proper notice. |

Don't wait, you are being passed around the houses, print three letters, give one to your immediate boss, one to the MD and one to the GM, don't offer it to them, put it on their table and tell them what it is, don't take it back. Accept your new job andthats it, leave on the designated date and if they try to moan or say they didn't get the letter, make sure you keep a journal of dates and times and where eg. if you gave them the letter on Monday 10th, in the GM's office at 10am, then he cannot claim he wasn't there as you wrote down all this.
Do it NOW, as long as you give the letter to some one above you in the chain, you are coevered eg if you give it to someone running a department that isn't yours, then you are not covered. You should have started all this on the 10th, your original letter was on the 10th and stick to that date.
P.S. enjoy your new job...... |

Well, you gave them the letter, they have no choice. Go on to your new job, don't let their silliness get in the way of your career. It's their loss, not yours. You tried and you don't need to let them toss you around like that. Congrats on your new job! Don't lose it, go on to work there. Best of luck! :-) |
