What should the us government do to help the automaker industry from fallen into deep tumble, should they own ?

The auto industry is looking for a low interest loan. There is no government ownership involved. They are basically looking to the government to guarantee loans because no bank is going to extend them the kind of credit they need without the backing of the federal government in the event of a default.

The financial institution "bailout", on the other hand, is a plan to recapitalize the banks by the government purchasing equity in the banks and financial institutions. In that scenario the government actually owns a part of the financial institution. As an extreme example the government now owns 80% of AIG.

The US government should not be in the business of bailing out industries who make bad business decisions. The automakers in the Southeast are not having such problems. Perhaps the big 3 should contact the unions for a bailout.

sweetnasty_barodian
The auto industries should approach the government with the right growth / sustainable strategy for bailout package instead of asking government to support them. The bailout package suld do justice to the tax payers.

somerandomdude
They should let the corporations take their medicine like "big boys" just as they should have with the banks. Last time you made a bad financial choice, did the government cut you a quick fixey-fixey check?

Now that we've saved the banks, the auto industry has "suddenly" shown up with their hand out. Who will be next? I think the airlines, or the shipping industry...or maybe farmers...again...or....

See the problem?

nothing...
They have made poor business decisions.
Did you know that the average auto worker makes just a little over a $100,000 a year.
Did you know that if they are laid off...these auto workers still receive their full salary until retirement or work come back...
With these smart concessions they have made with unions and with poor decisions around SUV vs compact...
Their business model failed.
File for Ch11 so that they can reorganize...so that they can do away with paying people $100,000 sitting at home waiting for a car to be made, so that they can lighten the load on these pension plans...
But give them free money...No.
Businesses go under all the time. It happens. Sorry that toyota sold a better product...sorry they went green and you went big. Sorry you introduced a hybrid in europe that gets 100 mpg but not here in the states. sorry you pay people $100,000 a year to kick it at home.

Let them go under then restructure them. They made bad choices they should have to live with it. You hear them saying we need to save jobs well maybe if you take away there huge salary and huge bonuses they could say jobs and be better off
