work4more | What synergy has improved your office environment? |
Stress at work is a common problem. Poor Mgmt style or uninspired workers can result in disullusionment and low work energy. I work in a UK technical team, and in spite of our loyalty and hard work we do not receive any real rewards. Mgmt seems top heavy & there are very few examples passed down of good process. There are some decent people around so it is not all doom and gloom. I suspect frustration is rife amongst other parallel teams in the department but no one up top is ready to challenge the leadership styles and shake it up! Is the grass greener your side of the fence? What examples can you give of good leadership in your office that has made a difference. What articles or international lifestyle coaches have influenced you? Do you follow the principles of Anthony Robbins? What is the next Feng Shui that has given your office a new spirit? Do you feel Sir Terry Leahy of Tesco has got a motivated workforce. Has anyone got a tip from the book "Lean Thinking". Carp Diem |

The atmosphere in my office is really bad. Poor management, bullying, harassment, over worked, under paid.....until the manager went on long term sick a couple of weeks ago. Total change, great place to work at the moment. |

Synergy improving the office environment is constant open and honest communication with a variety of humor and goodwill.
Sounds corny but true. Our office is very high stress but we have a vast difference in the way each of us structure our thought process so whatever problems come up in our daily issues meeting is brainstormed and usually resolved. All A type personalities or right brain dominant is not the variety for a effective team.Reward and recognition is also a contributor to good office morale, we celebrate small successes frequently and our main goals are rewarded with a great bonus structure. With the bonus system based on Goals and objectives we work jointly to achieve the objectives that get us to the goal. With that we all take fantastic vacations every year or buy the toys we enjoy. |

The two people who were making life here sheer hell are gone. Now things get done, and the whole office is working as a team.

We schedule morale days. For example, yesterday we all went out to see a movie and have lunch. The movie tickets were paid by the funds we raised, but we had to buy our own lunch and/or popcorn.
We raise money through bakes sales, silent auctions, 50/50 raffles, and paying $2 to dress down one Friday each month. This builds camaraderie. |

Well I'm self-employed so perhaps you should know that in the 'real world' you bust your *** to earn a living or you simply don't get paid.
To be honest, there's a very real chance that I am earning considerably more money than you but that's because I go out and work instead of winging about my nasty boss who doesn't appreciate me.

Synergy? ha ha ha ha! I do love management B/S language! Can you tell me more please? I would love to hear about empowerment, cutting edge, blue skies thinking, proactive, total quality management, thinking outside the box and all idiotic management bollox jargon like that.
But seriously, higher management always consists of men who will not make any decision without "adequate consultation" are very conservative in outlook and habits, have no imagination or creativity, are not intelligent, are not risk takers and all have management degrees and diplomas that tell all and sundry how effective they are. As well as nice suits and manicured nails.
Good leadership means treating your underlings well. Happy people are efficient people, it is not the other way around. Do NOT talk about Feng Shui! All that is is the aincient spiritual way to rearrange the furniture, a fad for the dim and gullible to bandy around as it seems esoteric and mystical. Avoid all management motivation seminars like a dose of the pox. They are all crap, as are all management "Guru's" Overpaid, underemployed and simple minded pillocks. If I ever found that I needed a "lifestyle coach" when I was working in industry I would have got some big Norweigian stoker to beat the sh*t out of me. I would have deserved it for believing "guru's" who all use psycholigical manipulation to influence and wind up their audience to a pitch of ertzatz motivation. Do read the "Dilbert" comic strip though and do not take all this motivational waffle seriously, it is all crud of the first water. |
