Super Walmart is coming to my town of about 17,000 and I am so afraid that means the end of our KMart and small grocery stores and hardware stores that I love to shop at. I refuse to go there and I will spend more and/or drive out of town to avoid shopping there. When will it end? Is it useless to fight it?? Who's with me?!?

Walmart is like any other store. If people want to shop there, they won't shop elsewhere. The lure of low prices is too much for most people, and that's the story of their success. As long as people care first about price and second about the quality of service and goods, places like Walmart will grow.
Here in Southern California, the others (Kmart, Target, etc.) are making a comeback. It's great to save money when you shop, but after weeks or years of fighting crowds and lines at Walmart, people have started going to the other stores. Also, in their fashion of constantly reducing prices, Walmart has already gone past the point of having quality goods and is now buying lower quality goods in order to offer lower prices.
That is backfiring on them. Sure, you can buy crap for a low price at Walmart, but who wants crap anyway? |

I hate my wal-mart, its is always packed...no where to park...cashiers are ALWAYS miserable...shoppers are rude and the lines are sickeningly long all the time...I hate wal-mart. |

I too was once worried about Walmart taking over our country..that is until I started looking at the positive impact Walmart has on communities. Sure, those mom and pop stores take a beating, but in reality, your cost of living will actually go down once Walmart sets up shop. They may put a strain on smaller stores but they do it by keeping their prices so low. The number of good paying jobs will increase in your town. The schools in your town will also reap the benefit through the generous donations that Walmart offers to them. I think you'll see, like I did, that Walmart really can make it cheaper for us. |

I HATE WALMART! i do shop there cause of the prices, but i hate the way they ruh their store! WHATS THE DEAL WITH SELF CHECK OUTS! are they going to give us a paycheck for working for them, 30 checkouts and only 10 open, 5 of which are self help. it burns my ***! |

Mom and Pop stores are for elitist hippies. The Wal-Mart I frequent is a "one stop shopping experience", and the folks that work there work there because they like people. It's like going to a good church. I love Wal-Mart. It is a great example of corporate americana. |
