What will happen to woolworths staff?

If Woolworths does close down, its customers will move to other retailers who will need staff to cope with the increase in demand and many staff could very well be hired by them. Especially since the other retailers get access to a pool of talent of ex-Woolworths employees.

They will be going cheap in the biggest Woolies sale ever.

Seafret1412
At the moment Woolworths is in administration, so for the next few days they will keep working, if someone takes it over, they have the option to keep on the staff, but there is always the possibility that they will change the store or run a new business or bring in their own staff.

It looks very bleak and there is a huge possibility they will loose their jobs, remember C&A, same thing happened to them, they did not get taken over due to too much competition and the staff had to join the dole queue.

Awful business particularly near Christmas - so unfair.

sadly... chances are they will probably have to find another job

Kamishi
It is a pretty sad state of affairs but they will prob not see any money and be out of a job... The company is in administration and owes more money than it is worth. The biggest creditors come first and since they owe something in the region 100million staff are on the bottom of the list...

Han
They'll have to find a new job I reckon.

Oh come of it. All this is a load of crap. Woolworth's is one of the strongest brand names in the high street and crucially they are still open at the moment. If the Administrators thought that they were going to cease to exist they would not be opening the stores as this is effectively costing money. Their gamble is that following the public outcry about Woolies closing, a buyer of some kind is almost certainly going to step in and take over.
It's like the biggest christmas sale of all, instead of us buying stuff cheap in the sales, the shops themselves are going cheap !! This whole exercise is a massive sales pitch by the administrators and there are people who will make a lot of money out of this fiasco.
If I worked for Woolworth's, I wouldn't be doing anything for a while !!
