Branded products are usually advertised and are more expensive. Generic products are like your store brands. Like if you go to Bi-Lo to get milk they have Pet, Coburg and Bi-Lo brands of milk.

Basically the price is the main difference, however the other argument used (particularly with medicines and beauty products) is that the ingredients used in branded products are purer and of a higher quality. This argument is mainly used by pharmaceutical reps to convince GPs to prescribe their brand rather than a cheaper generic drug.

In many cases, nothing. Alot of generic products are made by the exact same people but they are 'branded' by their packaging.

Not a lot or nothing when it comes to the quality, in Drugs and Medicines the Brand product is at a high price to pay for research marketing, copy rights etc. after a certain time another company can produce the product legally ( some times under licence ) with out all the cost of research etc. so the product is cheaper because of less over heads.
