I'm trying to find the word people use to describe 'when a company closes down' and its not liquidation. Does anyone know what it is, I think there's more than 1. Thanks!

I guess the word you are looking for is "Bankrupt" meaning "a person who upon his or her own petition or that of his or her creditors is adjudged insolvent by a court and whose property is administered for and divided among his or her creditors under a bankruptcy law."

Also you can always lookup an online thesaurus for words sounding similar in their meaning

Here's what http://thesaurus.com threw up:
broke, depleted, destitute, exhausted, failed, impoverished, insolvent, lacking, lost, out-of-business, ruined, spent, tapped out
