With the way the economy is going right now I've found myself looking at more tags and boxes finding out where things are made before buying them. Of coarse I'm still stuck buying many things "made in china, india, etc...."
Personally, I don't. But I know several people who do, and won't buy unless it's US made.

Yes i do. Most products these days are made in china as cost of production is extremely low because of low wages and no benefits including healthcare etc. It is an exploitation of chinese workers but it would cost several times more to produce the same product in the usa. i have to say that quality controls are excellent in china. There are neighbouring countries to china where quality controls are not so stringent and i would be cautious about buying those goods. However most companies exporting to US are strict about quality control or used to be till the dollar weakened. India has emerged as the largest producer of generic medicine eg it costs a few cents to produce Plavix vs many dollars in the US.
would i buy that medicine ? i do not know. it is sold in walmart and costco at deep discount and i guess everyone wants to save money.i feel very comfortable buying japanese cars. they are the best value for money. Should i feel bad that i do not buy american cars and support a poorly built machine and system inefficiencies. i struggle with that. Hope this helps.

I sure do and I'm appalled to see nearly everything is from China.

No.I look at the manufacturer and consumer reviews.Today most products are made in china but quality is controlled by the company owning the plants.Of course there are always exceptions. The best way to find a quality product is to read the reviews of the previous buyers if you can.If 9 out of 10 rates the product high quality then you have a very high chance of buying a quality product.Even many products produced by Chinese companies are quality products. The prejudice that the Chinese always make the bad stuff has no evidence to back it up because the ones making the claim have not tested the more expensive Chinese products and certainly not all of their products. How much you pay is how much you will get.
