none of these answeres are realistic or even accurate.
If we assume technology doesnt improve over current standards then you could litteraly say that it would be too expensive to get to remaining oil in the earth before the end of this century and sooner in some parts of the world (specifically middle east).
However, including technology improvements which often is doing quantum leaps in capability or speed or convience every 2-6 years. Its most likley not to happen for hundred's of years.
However even with technology improvements there will come a time when it will be too expensive even with techno to bother getting the oil.
Especially if we continue to improve non-oil alternatives and can bring down the cost of hybrids and similar.
Fact is, if you are able to get the tax credit or tax deduction for a hybrid at a good enough deal, you have the value that a hybrid brings. But without that tax benefit, hybrids are not yet good enough.
Cost of oil in the future with or without technology will get ungodly expensive, there will be even bigger wars over oil.
I figure we will see some nuclear war though not necessarily worldwide.
I do believe based on research that the middle east will run out before other areas will by virtue of the fact that some of the other areas havent even been tapped yet. (Technology will change that too). |
