My husband, daughter, two grandsons age 4 and 5 booked two nights at Valley West Inn, and had a dangerous thing happened in the swimming pool which my two grandsons could have gotten hurt, my husband complained to the front office, and they wouldn't do anything about it, so we decided to check out after only being there for a couple hours, and the person in charge said that our credit card would be credited for both nights, will two months later still have not seen any credit on my credit card, so who do I contact, they do not have any email address or customer service link to get me to them, I did send them a letter in the mail explaining the whole situation but have not gotten any thing back from them. HELP!! |

1st - dispute the credit card charge with your credit card company ASAP. There is generally a grace period of 60 days to dispute charges, and the dispute must be in writing. Some credit card companies will allow you to do this online.
2nd - file a complaint with your local Better Business Bureau.
3rd - consider small claims court
4th - Go out to Yahoo.com, TripAdvisor.com, Travelocity, Expedia and let others know of your horrible experience!

You could call and ask to speak to the manager. Did you book it yourself or through a travel company? If you booked it through a company, you could also complain to them.
I also find it helpful to go on travel sites like expedia, orbitz, etc. and see what they say/have ratings for the place. Then I write reviews, although I try to be fair about it. That's the problem with hotels...sometimes you have no idea about the quality of the place. Good luck! |

Contact the local JrJCs. They love this sort of thing and may get you to the top VP or whom ever that really owns the joint. You can also file a complaint with the local BBB. Hope this helps. |

If you kept a copy of the letter showing their intent to credit your credit card, I would contact them one more time to give them a final chance to resolve your issue. I'm sure they want to avoid bad publicity.
Let them know that if you do not see the credit in a reasonable amount of time (say, two weeks or so - these things do take time) -- you will contact your local newspaper or TV station.
In our city, we have people in the newspaper and on local TV which research these things and report on their success. I'm sure the hotel doesn't want anything like this to be publicized.
However, in all fairness and to be able to proceed with a clear conscience that you did all you could, I would contact them this one more time.
You might want to send your letter registered mail as proof that your letter was received. |

They have a website, but conveniently do not show an email address. Unfortunately, if you did not dispute the charge with your bank within 60 days, you can't now.
The most you could expect now is that if you continue to pursue they may give you a free night's stay there. I'm sure you don't want that.
In the future book with a hotel chain. They are more concerned with customer service than a local hotel privately owned. |

You can also register a complaint with the Better business Bureau in West Des Moines, IA. Once the complaint is registered, the Inn will be notified of the complaint and what they need to do to satisfy your complaint. If they don't do anything about it, it becomes a strike against their BBB Account.
Be sure to include in your letter to the BBB, the reason for the complaint and what you want them to do to resolve it with you. |
