Which day is traditionally payday in the USA?
Just wondering... For example, here in Brazil most companies usually pay their workers in the fifth business day of the month. What about the US companies?

hmark
Those who are payed on a weekly basis are paid on Fridays. There are also bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) usually scheduled for either Thursdays or Fridays. Lastly, there are semi-monthly which are paid whichever day is closest to the 1st and 15th of the month (meaning if the 1st or 15th lands on a weekend, it is the next business day).

These are the 3 types of full-time schedules I know about, but I am sure there are others (part-time) etc. We're very diversed and don't want to overload the banks with people cashing their paychecks on the same day.

The two most common ways are on the 1st and 15th of each month. Or getting paid every 2 weeks on a thursday or friday.

msquaredinc
Fridays

There are varying systems though.

1. 1st and 15th day of month
2. 15th and last day of month
3. Every other Friday

Every company is different. Most pay on the 1st, 15th or the end of the month, Some pay every friday or on a set schedule.
