They are both excellent. That said, Costco has a company-wide "hard" 9% cap on the markup of items. That is, if an item costs them $100, the most they can sell it for is $109. This even includes generic prescription drugs and furniture, two of the highest markup items one can purchase.

Sam's Club has VERY reasonable prices that compete with (and frequently beat) Costco, but they have no official cap.

In the long run, you're probably better off at Costco.

It is impossible to beat Wal-Mart in prices.

In case you don't know Sam's Club is a Wal-Mart Company.

I have always found Sam's a little cheaper. But Costco has a better selection.

god'sprincess
It depends on what you want to buy. Some of Sam's food is cheaper, but things like yard items are sometimes cheaper at Costco. It also depends on which one you go to. There are three different Sam's where I live and the prices are all like twenty cents different.

dont know- never been to costco
sams has pretty good deals though

I think the prices are pretty much the same but they may differ on savings on various products. You could get your Q-tips for cheaper at one but you could get your juice cheaper at the other. It's kind of like a double-edged sword, in that you may have to get a membership to both in order to truly "save". It also depends on how large your family is!

I find Costco more convenient, as it's close to my job, yet I find myself not going often, due to the small size of my family and that I have to pay more sales tax there than I would at home. Then again the sales tax factor balances out by a longer drive out to "save" at a Sam's Club, as I don't have one close to home.

To truly save money, I usually end up looking for deals at the grocery stores, WalMart, and Target. Just watch the flyers and clip coupons. I know that Costco will not accept any coupons outside of the ones from their own flyer, which is mailed out to me on occasion. And usually none of these coupons are for things I would buy there.

Hope that helps.

They're about the same - I've shopped at both. I prefer Costco, though.

Costco has better variety and will therefore get you what you really want for less $$.

I would also like to point out that you shouldn't buy anything in such a large amount if you really don't need that much. If you end up throwing away 1/5 of the quantity, it would have been cheaper to buy it in individual packages at Walmart.

Costco..belive me i compared them once.and costco was cheaper in most stuff..and expensive in sum stuff..and costco has more variety..
