Which is better: be an auditor or an accountant?

Journal Entry
Neither is better. It is simply of choice of what you want to do. And you are likely to do both over the course of your career.

My brother who is a CPA chooses auditing position in a bank. He travels a lot going from one branch to another. According to him, it is more exciting and he learns a lot.

Accountants get the better offices and more respect it seems. The work is more varied and therefore is less repetitive - auditing is very repetitive and well boring in my opinon

In a lot of cases being an auditor requires a lot of travel. In addition it is generally a salaried position and pays no overtime (and there is a good amount of mandatory OT during the busy periods at the big firms). If you enjoy work that much and hate your family (or simply don't have any) than its not bad (if you are single and can get some good travel locations).

Beyond that, being a "regular" Corporate accountant isn't to bad but unless you have your CPA and are a controller / CFO the money is probably better as an auditer (outside of the first year or two).

Rana
auditor , simply checking and to raise objections, by doing this work, you can earn extra money
