Which jobs are "recession proof"?
My father and I were discussing today's economy, and we had just recently bought a house and my father said one of the reasons that we were able to get the house (people who try to buy a house in todays economy know what I mean) was that both of my parents are teachers, a so called "recession proof job" because obviously, people need to learn. So, I was just wondering, what other jobs besides teachers are "recession proof"?

no job is "recession proof" as such but your Dad is right in saying that teachers will always be needed.

Doctors and dentists are another two professions that are in that same category, but in times like these, more people will be looking to train for careers like that so just because you have the skills, doesn't mean that you'll be able to get a job because the field might suddenly get more competitive.

Just make sure that whatever field you choose, you do it because you enjoy it, not because you buy into all this neo-apocalyptic garbage. This so-called recession was inevitable and has been hastened by greed, so never forget to appreciate the simple things in life!

Enjoy your new home!

Stay clear of sales, these will be the first ones to scale down. Anything that involves investment will also be on the downturn.
Unskilled labourers will also have nothing to separate themselves from everyone else. I'd be careful here.

However as long as you are in an indstry which has demand, then you should be fine.

Good luck.

Some fields and business are not hit as hard in a recession, while others may profit more, see link. The fields could change as the economy shifts and sways, and the markets of supply and demand also change.

Another plan is a savings account with several months of liquidity.
