Which one is higher in a corporation, a CEO or the president?? or are they the same?

abfabmom1
Where I work, the President reports to the CEO.

Tadow
They could be the same but not necessarily.

Both are officer positions. The President is named as the highest officer but that same person can be the CEO as well.

Jen G
In my company the CEO is the highest leveled position in the company. He reports to the board of directors. We have a couple of positions that are presidents of different business units, and they report to other c-level executives.

CEO

jim_elkins
What no one has pointed out is that in some cases one person can hold both jobs, but that has to be spelled out in the company's articles of incorporation.

cuzimbob
Usually you will only see a CEO in a "corporation,"(or publicly owned company) which is actually the tax status of a company. With most other tax status' you will have a president.
