The CEO is a company's top decision-maker, and all other executives answer to him or her. The CEO typically delegates many of the tactical responsibilities to other managers, while the president (sometimes also called COO) deals with day-to-day operations and tactics.
Presidents answer to CEOs. According to Investopedia.com, presidents often hold the title of Chief Operating Officer, or COO. The COO is responsible for executing the policy of the CEO and board of directors. So, in short, it's a "vision thing" versus a "nuts and bolts thing." |

CEO means Chief Executive Officer. President is also called "chief" of state ( or business or whatever hes president of ). Generally a company will have one or the other because they hold the same rank.
If there is both, It is most likely the CEO outranks the president(s), because then the president(s) would be of sub-committees within the entity. In which case those presidents would be reporting up to the CEO.
Also, there are a many companies who appoint a President almost entirely to be a good figurehead or spokesperson for that company, even though they hold no real power within the company. |

CEO is the Chief Executive Officer of a company, so he/she is the leader of all other executives (including Presidents for different divisions/countries, EVPs and other VPs....).
For some companies the CEO and President may be the same individual if the company size doesn't warrant the need for a separate President, or if the CEO is a very hands-on person. |

Some enterprises don't have CEOs, they just have a President... Of course, then the president is higher if there is no CEO |

You get directors and ceo's then you get managing directors which are one level below the ceo. President is just another way of saying director. |

The CEO,in rank.
The actual highest is the Majority Stockholder.
So it could be the President, but President is a Title.
CEO is a Job Description. The Chief Executive Officer is just what it says, Chief, the Big Kahuna, Mondo Boss. |

In a large corporation that is multi-national and multi subsidiary, then there may be many presidents of the company, i.e. one president for each subsidiary or operating division, but there is normally one CEO for the whole thing. |
