Who's the Boss?

Funny such a question asked, at a time and place in my life. I am a RN,,, the usual chain of command is,,,,,,,,,,,,Administrator,,,,,,,,then DON, or Director of Nursing,,,, then the ADON, or Assistant Director of Nursing. ,,, the triad so to speak.(forgetting any cooporate personel.(The "triad" answer to them, USUALLY!!)
This is the first job in my 16 years of nursing that the ADON ran the place, even with people holding the above positions,,and to top it off,,,this ADON, is an LPN, which is mostly unheard of in the healthcare administration,(except for the occasional LPN with years, and years of experience).
Not only is she an LPN, but she has only been one for like 5 years or so, and has only ever worked as a nurse in this one facility.
The administrator bows to her words, I have seen 2 DONS come through, (she ran the first one off that I started working with)
Even though I am a RN for 16 years, I have learned my place is on the floor with the patients giving one on one care, I have taken decreased pay for more peace of mind, than in the administrative field.
I have worked at this facility for 10 months and have worked with 3 charge nurses. All quit. The ADON calls them each week while they are off work, to question them regarding the weekend shifts (all negativity) lack of discipline, work ethics, etc. Though this woman has been there one weekend that I have worked to tell us how we need to be doing things. Though she never works weekends , which are LESS than HALF STAFFED,, with nurses falling over each other through the week ( so the administrative nurses don't have to worry about being at "work" on the floor) , meaning at least 2 nurses to be in charge, and at least 2 nurses to do my job , Mon. through Fri.
Complaints continually flow about the weekend crew,,,,,, that most family visit on, and only half the staff,,,,,,,,,,but this ADON she has been there and done that and knows all about how to make things better, and somehow even has the powers above believing anything this woman says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE????????? DO THE POWERS THAT BE NOT SEE A POWER THING GOIN ON HERE???????????? someone tell me I am not crazy, cause ya know what??? I QUIT!!!!!!!!! or else I'd loose my sanity,,,,,,,,,,,,
and just FYI!!!!!!!!!!! I've worked with lots of LPNS, I'd much rather care for me than some RN's,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but THIS ISN'T THE SAME THING
and what did this administrator and this DON /RN go to college to get a degree for to let this PERSON, RUN THE PLACE???????????????? whats wrong with this picture??? takes like what??? 9 months to become a LPN, who learns the TECH. part of nursing,,,,,,,,they get no lessons on disease process/progression, diagnosis, treatment,,,,,,,,,,,,,not like those of us who go to school to learn the ediology of diseases, pharmacology, etc.............. I am sorry, aint meanin to down none of you WONDERFUL LPNS, i'd rather care for me than some RNS, is the principle of the matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
