Who do I report discrimination against black residents in a local nursing home to?
There is a nursing home in my city that has no long term medicaid black residents at this time and in the past have only had 2 or 3 out of sixty residents.And never a black male.There are alot of wealthy white people there and the administrator likes it that way.This is so unfair What can I do to report them and have an investigation take place
Actually, the previous answer missed the mark. Medicaid indicates that the facility is receiving government assistance and because of this, they are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of race, creed, or color. If they were a completely self-sufficient facility, he would be correct.
Reporting them to medicaid could threaten their financial well-being by threatening their ability to receive medicaid funds.

I disagree with Frank Castle. No one has a right to discriminate against anyone who is in need of healthcare when the bill is being footed by the American government (taxpayers, too!).
Call the local health department, your consumer advocate, Better Business Bureau and any government offices that regulate Medicaid as well as the local newspapers.

Your local news investigators would love a story like this...of course depending on where you live. But generally, the local media is a good place to start. If that doesn't work the NAACP would know who to contact.....that will get you some answers.

Or going to a Madonna's Concert and demand to have a country artist performing before her.
In the United States of America you have the right to refuse service to anybody.
I am sure you can find several nursing homes in your area that have male and female residents and I am sure you can find several nursing homes in your area that have black and white residents and I am sure you can find at least one nursing home with ONLY BLACK MALES as residents!
We are in 2006 and it really doesn't matter if you are black, white, red or blue.
