In a nutshell: stupid government policies encourage stupid lenders to make unregulated stupid loans to stupid people, then deceptively securitize them as "investment grade bonds" (aided by the credit rating agencies) and shlep trillions of dollars' worth of them all over the world. |

This passing Friday on Oprah, Suze Orman said it was the banks' fault because instead of refusing the people they should have, they got greedy and deceived people into thinking they could afford the houses and cars they had when in reality they couldn't. I think Suze makes sense. |
