I saw the 60minutes episode Sunday too. I think that whole "Millenials" thing is ridiculous. Where is the decency of the workplace going to if this kind of nonsensical and lackadaisical behavior is allowed to perpetuate! |

you see efficiency is also a function of how comfortable your employees are.
For example, could they work 100 hours straight without a break? You would think that is efficient because there is no break but you would find the quality to decline after a certain amount.
The same applies here. You can tell your employees to shut up and work, in which case they will do bad work, or you can let them come in with their iPods and their flip flops and let them have fun at work. That way they will actually want to come in for work and get more done.

Blame our society for it. They cry about every little thing that they can't get their way on and whine until they get their way or the courts and others just cower because they are tired of hearing it. A good trip to the woodshed would do a lot of them good. |

This is a problem in US. Employees are to work for employer. Everyone is so worried about feelings/political correctness that work has gotten lost. Also, young workers have no loyalty to employer or work ethic...which start with parents. Time to go back to ways of the 50's....work hard and achieve something...no handouts/free lunch, etc. |

My husband has an issue similar to this one, but it's not for the younger employees. It's for the associates that want a break after being at work for only 2 hours! Then, 2 hours later, they want their one hour of lunch. Then, 2 hours after lunch, they want another break! Then, 2 hours later...they go home! The majority of these people want to go outside to smoke and goof off...while the rest of the employees (that don't force the "break" issue) work their rears off to cover THEIR shifts.
I think there are quite a few people out there that need a good, swift kick in the rear. |
