I too was recently laid off, let me tell you half the stuff I sold was broken, the scanners never worked right, our phones always had problems, especially the batteries caus emost of refurbed from other stores returning them to the manufactor and we would get these phones at cheaper prices. Also our cables are over priced, it only costs the store 48 cents for a pack of 4 AA batteries and you pay 4 dollars. About 3 radios i sold were unopened and had missing parts or were defective, the toys always broke, our RC cars break after a week. Also our service plans don't cover breakage, they are a SCAM, don't get them. we no longer sell speakers and the computer ones we sell usually blow after 5 months, thank god cause they are generic no name things that suck. metal detectors are on the fritz and always going off. I have had professionals say our multi meters are not that accurate after working for 5 minutes. the tools are a joke, oh my god they stick when you try and open pliers, the scredrivers strip and everythign has that I am going ot break cause i am made of plastic feel. I set up a thermometer out of the box last summer and it didn't work either. All the dvd players are axions, a no name company, again and oh boy those got returned mighty fast, before oyu buy one, feel how weak the plastic casing is and the cover that closes on a cd, extreamly fragile. you put it down too hard you and break it. The xmods are over priced too and usually break he steering gear, none of our planes fly, like holy crap you take it out of the box charge it up and press forward onthe control it barely gets off the ground, then immediately nose dives and breaks the propeller, i saw this happen in the parking lot!! And finally our batteries completely suck, they have almost no charge in them, our most powerful echargables are 2000ma best buy has them cheaper and there's are 2400 to 2500ma, much more power per charge. and our alkalines die out after 3 hours of use in a flash light, we tested this over and over again.
I think the only good thing they sell is sirrius radio, but that is made by surrius who cares about thier radios.
Anyways this is the honest truth I worked there for a year and 6 months, all of these things happened in that span of working there and I never saw improvements on our quality issues, NEVER! Radio Shack wants your money and once they have it, never let it go and don't care about you. |
