Who is happy with Tesco?
Tesco has destroyed our local economies, by under cutting smaller chains and sole traders.

Who has made a point of shopping at there local traders?

Tescos has taken over England, but I still use them, I also rent DVDs through them. I just go for the easy option.

?
I am very happy that Tesco exists! I have my shopping delivered by them which they have done with a smile for over 5 years since I became ill and unable to get out of the house. Without them I would have starved! I buy loads of things from their extra/direct sites. Books, dvd's,gifts, paint etc. My laptop was nearly 80 quid less from there than anywhere else. That money is better in my pocket so Yes I love Tesco!

Tessco's now there's a subject

This store like others are taking the mick out of people without them knowing

They stock items that sell , but look to what you may need if Tesco's and alike put everyone else out of business

Tesco's are only popular because they offer what people think they need , everything under one roof and open at all hours.

Just what are the govenment doing about it , Nothing and why
, because they can't ,

Tesco's and alike buy themselves out of trouble , Yes it's a corrupt world , money is power

Tesco is a Great British sucess, people vote with their feet, perhaps you should look into how one of Tesco's competitors treats there staff in the US!! An old workmate works for Tesco, after retiring from us, she says she feels more respected and looked after now, then she ever did working for my company.

I try to use the weekly market where I live, because it is often cheaper, and the produce fresher.

I have a problem criticising Tesco, though; the only reason it is so successful is because lots of people want to shop there, and also from their online facility.

How can you complain about undercutting smaller chains? Doesn't the customer want cheaper prices?

They may have undercut many of the local traders and it is sad I must say, but when you consider local wages dont match upto local traders prices what other choice do we have??
If i shopped locally my food bill for the week would be £180. at Tesco it is £60 so can you see why alot of us do not have a choice?

HiLight
I have! I think conglomerates like Tesco suck and I wish there were more regulations to limit their presence.

I understand you totally. I refuse point blank not to go there, but my boyfriend insists on going there nearly everyday. Whenever I make a comment about it, he tries to defend it. I swear it's his favourite place in the world!

We shop at Tescos but we also support both of the shops in our village community. To be truthful I don't like Tesco's I feel ill every time I go to our local one ,the atmosphere is terrible ,the building is far to big,I can't go in there when it is busy .You also have to watch their offers carefully ,many of them are not genuine, if you compare them to other stores,Buy one get one free, huh ! Their trick is they double the price of the item and then offer one the same for free.My opinion of them sank even further when I discovered their Branch in Japan sold live turtles ,for the dinner table.I also work one day a week in Avenance Cafe' Tesco's yuk!

Tesco has damaged local economies!

Or rather their customers have!

I am a customer spending around £3,500 a year including diesel purchases.

Tesco has got is right! They do everything right the prices are right and the stock is good.

Tesco has a large 'land bank' too, which means they have already bought a lot of land all over the country, which it may or may not build on at a later date.

One of the reasons for Tesco's success is it's land bank, because it owns so much land which is suitable for supermarket sites, it knocks out the other companies' chances of building on the same site!

Tesco owns 160 suitable sites already, or 55% of all land banks for grocery purposes that exist. Whilst they only have 31% sthare of the market.

So it is harder for the competetors to find good and large enough locations for new stores. Although all supermarkets have land banks, Tesco has the largest.

Tesco also buys up land close to its existing stores, so that rivals cannot open up close by!

It's business, I'm not sure how fair it is, but it is not illegal!

Should our government do something to stop this buying up of land??? Who knows! Maybe Tesco should subsidise small businesses until they are up and running??

Tesco could give some basic stock to small shops! Bread, sugar, tea, coffee, beans, cerials, it would help small shops out a little.

It certainly is becoming a power in its own right!
Pretty soon there will not no choice, they will outgrow and overpower all other competitors, all corner shops will wither and die. And we will have no choice but pay what ever for what ever we need, no choice, in goods or buying cheaper because it wont be there! Talk about the coming of BIG BROTHER, seems more then just cameras everywhere.
Solant Green here we come!

I shop locally and at Tesco. It is not Tesco that has destroyed local economies it is shop landlords who charge phenomenally high rents that only the multiples can afford. Also the proliferation of Building Societies and Banks seem to have taken over the high Street, together with estate agents. Sometimes it is difficult to find an ordinary 'shop'. Stop knocking Tesco and the others, they are doing a good job. My money goes further with them, the quality is excellent, the staff are helpful, friendly and understandable.

I always shop at our local places, we have a fantastic asian shop near us that kicks the @rse of tesco when it comes to quality and price. I also use local butchers and fishmongers purely because the produce is better.
Tesco sucks
