There are pieces that make up the internet (the data lines, the servers, etc) whi h are owned by various companies, people, countries, etc. There are specific groups that make decisions about the future of the internet (and networking in general) such as top level domains (.com, .net, .org, .tv, etc) as well as various protocols and standards. But no person, country, organization or anything owns the whole internet. ISP's and such provide access to the internet, but as a whole, there is no single owner... |
